Test a template on an existing visit

Generate a temporary preview from a recent visit before saving or using a template.

You can preview the current template using a recent visit in the web app. The result appears in the preview panel and is not saved as a document on the visit.

Open Preview, select a visit, then generate a preview with the current template.

Open Preview, select a visit, then generate a preview with the current template.

Generate a preview

  1. Open a template from Templates, or start creating a new one.

  2. Make sure the template has content.

  3. Select Preview. On a narrow screen, open Template options (the three-dot button) and select Preview.

  4. Choose a visit from Select a recent visit….

  5. Select Generate and wait for the note to appear.

  6. Review the result, adjust the template if needed, and select Generate again to test the changes.

The preview uses the template currently in the editor, including its Include patient history setting. You do not need to save a template just to test its current draft.

Keep your template changes

When you are happy with the template, use Create, Save changes, or Save a copy, depending on the template you are editing. Generating a preview does not save the template.

If you cannot generate a preview

  • Select a visit first. The picker offers recent visits with recordings; if none are available, it shows No recent visits.

  • Use a visit you recorded yourself. Preview generation requires the visit to belong to your account.

  • Wait for a running preview to finish before starting another.

  • If you have used all your free visits, upgrade before testing templates against a visit.

  • If Couldn’t generate a note appears, read the error below it, check the template and selected visit, and try again.

Review the preview for accuracy before saving the template.
