Copy a note into your clinical record

Copy and paste a note

  1. Open the visit in Medical Scribe and select the document you want to copy.

  2. Finish any edits to the note before continuing.

  3. Select Copy Note at the top of the visit. Look for Copied! or the Note copied to clipboard confirmation.

  4. Open the correct patient record and encounter in your EHR.

  5. Place the cursor in the field where the note belongs and paste.

  6. Review the pasted text, section order, spacing, and formatting. Save or finalize it using your EHR's usual workflow.

If the visit has more than one document, select and copy each document you need separately.

What happens to formatting?

Medical Scribe puts both formatted HTML and plain text on the clipboard. The destination field determines which format it accepts.

If copying fails

If Medical Scribe shows Couldn't copy the note, try Copy Note again and check for any clipboard-access prompt from your browser. Do not assume the clipboard contains the current note until you see a successful confirmation.

If copying continues to fail, open Help Desk and provide your browser and the exact error. Avoid including patient details in the initial report.

You complete the paste and save steps in the EHR. Copy Note itself does not insert the note into a patient chart.
